One need only look at the headlines today to see that our region and nation are dealing with a protracted housing affordability crisis. Rising rents, home prices, historic low levels of housing stock, and interest rates present challenges on many fronts. ANDP is working to increase the supply of affordable rental homes, apartments, and especially homeownership opportunities. And you can help!
Throughout our 31-year history, we have preserved and developed over 11,300 affordable housing units for low- to moderate-income families. We directly house over 1,000 people annually through affordable single-family homeownership, rental programs, and multifamily housing.
ANDP has developed a unique model to scale the development of affordable housing. We have doubled our housing production in the last 4 years, making us a regional nonprofit leader in housing development. Last fiscal year, we developed 158 single-family homes and closed on two new affordable multifamily complexes. We have three more multifamily complexes in predevelopment/under construction and will have over 900 affordable housing units by the end of 2022, impacting thousands of low- and moderate-income families.
Branden, pictured above, is one of the many homebuyers capitalizing on his dream of homeownership. He is one of the 30 percent of Gen-Z who found himself back home with his parents after college graduation. After stepping out on his own, and as rental prices in the city kept climbing, he felt he was burning money with each monthly payment. In April 2022, the first-time homebuyer closed on his three-bedroom home, newly renovated by ANDP. While his savings played a big role in this process, Branden states that his down payment assistance through ANDP was the “icing on the cake.”
Our work is providing critically needed affordable housing opportunities to low-to-moderate-income (LMI) residents while working to advance economic mobility through homeownership, wealth creation, and community involvement. Our rental program provides affordable housing for families who would otherwise be housing insecure. Homeownership is the predominant path to creating intergenerational wealth; our program has helped ANDP homebuyers achieve over $135,000 on average in wealth creation over the past 10 years.
But more work needs to be done, and ANDP is committed to transforming communities and making an impact.
We greatly appreciate your consideration of support this Georgia Gives Day and the holiday season. We cannot do this vital work without friends like you. With your donation, we can continue addressing low-income families' dire affordable housing needs while providing more support to our vulnerable residents during this critical time.
