Ape Conservation Effort Inc

We are Ape Conservation Effort, Inc. (ACE).  We are an all-volunteer group that works to help save the four great ape species: the gorilla, orangutan, bonobo and chimpanzee.  All four are critically endangered in the wild and all four are amazing and intelligent creatures.  We would be thrilled to have YOU JOIN US!  Visit our website at apeconservationeffort.org   We just completed a Gingerbread for Redheads fundraiser and are selling Honey Baked Ham gift cards online to raise funds through the end of the year.

Together, we can help save the Great Apes!  Join ACE in its mission to support in situ conservation organizations working to save Great Apes in their homelands in Africa and Southeast Asia.  ACE has raised and sent $245,092.00 in donations to these conservation organizations.  A generous donor has made it possible for all donations made to ACE today to be matched dollar for dollar until the total of $1,000 is reached.  

Fun facts:

•  Gorillas laugh.  Did you know? They do when tickled, but don't try this yourself!
• We humans are closely related to the great apes, the closest being the chimpanzee.  We share about 99% of our DNA with chimpanzees and 98% with orangutans!
• A young orangutan remains with and learns from its mother for up to 8-10 years!
• Great apes are social beings.  Family and community provide life-sustaining benefits.

We hope you will join us in the effort to protect these incredible apes and their homelands from further encroachment.  You will be helping in the vital work of:

• rescue and rehabilitation of orphaned great apes, who arrive at nonprofit centers completely traumatized. If orphaned as an infant, they require a surrogate mother 24 hours a day to stay alive. 
• rescue and rehabilitation of those held in very unhealthy restricted spaces due to the pet trade.  They will need medical intervention and training to learn skills required to survive in the wild.
• supporting researchers as they strive to learn more about the great apes. 
• providing necessary supplies for trackers who follow great ape groups day in and day out in order to keep them and their forest safe.
• underwriting veterinary emergency care in the field and care at the rehab centers.
• creating partnerships with local governments to maintain and protect preserved carbon-rich land, important to the climate of our planet, from human encroachment.
• providing schools, medical care, and new income strategies for the people of the neighboring communities. 

The on-the-ground organizations we support have managed to continue their operations during very difficult times, including the recent pandemic years, due to their great commitment to their conservation missions.  We and they, and the great apes, can surely use your support now.
