In the fall of 1994, a few passionate citizens came together through their concern of used syringes being improperly disposed of in the streets of Atlanta.  A year later, these grassroots efforts became a 501 (c)(3) organization, Atlanta Harm Reduction Coalition, Inc.  Throughout the last twenty-five years Atlanta Harm Reduction Coalition, Inc. (AHRC) has operated the premiere syringe services program in the state of Georgia helping to reduce risks of HIV, Hepatitis C, and STIs.

Over the last decade, the organization has expanded its programs focusing on wellness, prevention, and wrap around services to persons with socioeconomic barriers, primarily on the westside of Atlanta. AHRC, is working daily to help persons overcome challenges. In 2019, we had over 71,137 syringes collected and 79,543 syringes distributed, over  4,000 client visits, distributed over 19,000 condoms, tested over 1,300 persons for HIV, HEP C, and STIs, saved over 950 lives through overdose prevention, and more!
