Bagel Rescue Inc

Bagel Rescue is a non-profit organization supporting hunger relief in the metro Atlanta area by connecting restaurants with excess food - specifically bagels - to neighbors in need. Through generous donations from local bakeries, volunteers deliver bagels to food pantries, shelters, feeding programs, and community outreach efforts. Our goal is to reduce food waste and support hunger relief, one bagel at a time. 

A bagel is so much more than just a bagel...

Food is our most basic need and EVERYONE deserves to eat. While bagels won't sustain a full diet, they are an easily transportable, fresh food that offer nutrition, deliciousness, and dignity to those in need. We believe food should not be wasted when it can be put to good use feeding our community. Bagel Rescue aims to end the cycle of waste and support hunger relief.

Bagel shops operate on a model of selling freshly-made bagels daily. That means they are forced to discard their bagels at the end of the day. Bagel Rescue was founded as a solution to that waste. Instead of throwing out the leftover bagels, they can be "rescued" and given to those experiencing food insecurity. 

Over the past two years, Bagel Rescue has grown from meager beginnings of just a few bagel shop partners and donation recipients to a large food rescue network. Now, we have 27 bagel shop partners, most of which are at ZERO BAGEL WASTE. 

The volunteer force that takes on this important work is an army of more than 60 passionate individuals. From retired executives, to stay-at-home moms, to people who leave their workplace just to rescue, these volunteers are reliable and dedicated to reducing food waste and supporting their communities. The bagels are delivered weekly to more than 80 partner agencies include shelters, food pantries, youth programs, street outreach efforts, senior centers, food cooperatives, extended stay hotels where families are living, and so much more.
