The Georgia Prostate Cancer Coalition, Inc. (GPCC) was founded in 2000 by a group of prostate cancer survivors and volunteers. It is the largest prostate cancer organization in the State of Georgia with chapters in Atlanta and Macon, with an expressed interest from men's groups in Augusta, Albany & Columbus. GPCC's vision is to eliminate prostate cancer deaths, with a mission focused on building awareness, providing education and the prevention of the effects of advanced-stage prostate cancer.
Deaths from prostate cancer in Georgia ranks second to lung cancer deaths in men. GPCC provides free prostate cancer screenings for unemployed and uninsured men of Georgia. Our current prostate cancer screening model involves partnerships with Urology Practices, Hospitals, Radiation Oncologists, Oncologists, pharmaceutical industry representatives, and the Georgia Department of Health. Our team of volunteers assist with screenings through these partnerships and together we fight on the front lines against prostate cancer.
GPCC is expanding its Free Screening Program with the creation of a Corporate Screening Program. This new program is designed to take prostate cancer screening to the insured men in the workplace. Additionally, a more robustly-focused Community Education Program and a new Women's Initiative have been implemented in an effort to inform more men of the importance of an annual screening.
GPCC Guiding Principles
Community - GPCC will build awareness, provide education, and offer free screenings to reduce deaths from Prostate Cancer to all cummunities in the State of Georgia.
Empowerment - GPCC seeks to inspire men and their families to take the necessary steps to assure annual screening at the appropriate age.
Integrity - GPCC will always strive to provide honest and accurate facts to the public as it relates to the most up to date information on Prostate Cancer. We will not endorse a specific procedure, physician, Georgia medical center/clinic/hospital, or pharmaceutical company.
Partnership - GPCC wil seek various partnerships within our communities, who share our mission and vision as it relates to early detection, education, and support form men diagnosed with prostate cancer.
Respect - GPCC will respect the privacy of all who seek information regarding treatment options on prostate cancer, as well as any Protected Health information it may have obtained in the course of normal business, unless specifically authorized.
Teamwork - GPCC will team with medical professionals, private industry, and state and federal governments to provide a consistent message relating to prostate cancer.
