The Greening Youth Foundation’s (GYF) mission is to engage under-represented youth and young adults, while connecting them to the outdoors and careers in conservation. GYF’s cultural based environmental education programing engages children from local communities and exposes them to healthy lifestyle choices in order to create an overall healthy community. GYF believes that youth and young adults from diverse backgrounds can greatly benefit from the career opportunities presented within the state and federal land management sectors. Accordingly, GYF continues to develop and strengthen partnerships with land management agencies to provide service and internship opportunities for youth and young adults thereby creating pathways to conservation careers.
Help West Africa now! Climate Change disproportionally affect people of color both in North America as well as on the continent of Africa. It is widely understood that Africa is most vulnerable and is highly impacted by extreme weather conditions; these conditions effect crops, growing seasons, housing, water ways and more. While Africa is on the front line of the repercussions of climate change, the continent is a minimum contributor to the problem. Help West African communities become more resilient and adapt to this changing environmental issue.
The ills of climate change impact Africa more severely than other countries, primarily because of the lack of financial and educational resources. Greening Youth Foundation is working to change this scenario through providing educational opportunities and training to youth across West Africa. GYF along with partners like you are teaching young adults how to help their communities become more resilient and adapt to the harsh realities of climate change. GYF is collaborating with local organizations and government officials both in Nigeria and Ghana to educate and train students and residents on sustainable practices to improve their lives and the lives of the communities.
GYF has partnered with the various environmental ngo’s in West African to train youth in forestry management and agricultural practices to better help surrounding villages and townships to grown food and protect their natural resources. Additionally, we are partnering with a private company to train 1,000 techs to provide solar power to Nigeria and to expand services throughout Africa.
