Top Ladies of Distinction Inc.-NewRock Chapter

Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc. (TLOD) was chartered in the state of Texas on September 8, 1964 as a non-profit educational, humanitarian organization. The purpose of the organization was to marshal the talents, energies, and skills of women nationally in a collaborative effort to help alleviate the moral and social problems confronting our youth in the mid-sixties. The NewRock Chapter was chartered in Conyers, Georgia on June 3, 2018. The NewRock Chapter president is Dr. Charnita West. 

Since its inception, the organization has expanded its objectives to include its focus on youth (known as Top Teens of America), improving the status of women, service to senior citizens, community beautification, and community partnerships. Chapters nationwide support the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW), the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), United Negro College Fund (UNCF), and the awarding of national scholarships to at least one in each of TLOD’s six geographic areas.

The NewRock Chapter of TLOD and Top Teens have engaged in many impactful service activities since being formed in 2018. Some include: PINK OUT Breast Cancer Awareness, Rivers Alive! Rockdale - Community Beautification, March of Dimes Fundraiser, Autumn Leaves-Alzheimer’s and Dementia Senior Citizens and Literacy Event, Sickle Cell Awareness Walk and Fundraiser, Feeding the Homeless- Garden of Gethsemane Homeless Shelter, and Domestic Violence Awareness events.

Adopted by TLOD in 1969, Top Teens of America (TTA) was developed with the primary objective to help alleviate the moral and social problems engulfing youth (ages 13-18) in communities and to empower them to become productive members of society. Top Teens participate in community service, hands-on mentoring, leadership development, educational and social opportunities, as well as the experience to travel via annual conferences that are planned for their cultural, scholastic and social development. Over the years, thousands of youth have come through Top Teens of America and made a difference in the communities in which they live. On July 15, 2018, the Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc. - NewRock Chapter held the first information session for parents and youth interested in joining Top Teens of America - NewRock.
