Tree Of Life Healthcare’s mission is to provide quality and compassionate primary health care to the medically uninsured and underserved in The Greater Chattahoochee Valley area. Because of the need for quality primary health care for the uninsured and underserve in The Greater Chattahoochee Valley area, Tree Of Life provide medical care to patients from as far north in LaGrange and far south as Richland, Lumpkin, Cusseta and Buena Vista.

The existence of insurance positively influences the behavior and overall health of the individual.  Persons with health insurance coverage generally seek appropriate treatment and engage in preventive care.  Lack of health insurance is a major barrier to obtaining needed and preventive care.  

Uninsured people have an increased risk of morbidity from preventable diseases.   They are less likely to get preventive care and needed screenings.  This also significantly reduces employee productivity and increase absenteeism.   These factors are also a contributing reason as to the increasing numbers of the uninsured and underserved.   The uninsured rate in Georgia is 12.9 %.   Nationally 8.8% of people [28.5 million] do not have health insurance.  

The fastest growing segment of the uninsured population is the working poor or those individuals or families earnng250% of less of the Federal Poverty Level [FPL].   Studies conducted by The Kaiser Family Foundation indicated the over 60% of the uninsured are none-elderly, full-time workers.  They typically earn low wages and work in service industries.  These industries are agricultural enterprises and small businesses that do not offer health insurance to their employees.  Small businesses that are able to offer insurance, even with the Affordable Care Act, coverage often require premium cost sharing and high deductibles, making coverage unaffordable for low income individuals. 

To engage these patients, Tree Of Life provides some services at no cost. Also, Tree Of Life provides medical services to patients based on a sliding scale.  That's where you come in! There is still a cost for some services, on the backend (lab work processing, medical equipment, supplies, etc.) however, Tree Of Life Healthcare works to shield our patients from bearing the brunt of those costs.
