The Urban Clinic of Atlanta

A nonprofit organization

The Urban Clinic of Altanta (UCA) is a free, primary care clinic serving metro Atlanta. In operation since 2016, UCA continues to be the only completely free clinic in Fulton County providing primary care to underserved, uninsured, and low-income adults.  UCA provides high quality medical care (via in-person and telemedicine) for routine primary care, management of chronic illnesses and/or diseases, STD screening and treatment, lab services, and access to prescription medications. The clinic also refers patients out for radiology services, vision screens and specialty referrals.

Located in Fulton County, UCA serves patients mostly from seven metro Atlanta counties including Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Forsyth, Fulton, Gwinnett and Henry counties. Our patient population is 79% African American, 16% Caucasian, and 5% other ethnicities. 65% of our patients are women and 35% are male. The population served is 18+, uninsured, and 200% or below the Federal poverty level.

Even before COVID-19 struck, Georgia's uninsured rate was close to 14 percent, giving the state the nation’s third-highest rate of people without health insurance. Many people in metro Atlanta must choose between paying out of pocket health care costs or buying food to feed their families. UCA provides this segment of the population an opportunity to access free health care by a caring and compassionate group of licensed health care professionals and volunteers.

Through a nurse-managed team of 8 part-time employees and over 30 volunteers and interns, we are able to provide a crucial safety net to adults in our community that otherwise would not have access to health care services.
