Woodlands offers visitors vibrant color in every season, with native plants like hearts-a-bustin', trillium, and beautyberry.
Woodlands is an 8-acre urban sanctuary in Georgia's most densely populated city, Decatur. Visitors are treated to:
- A diverse canopy of trees, including 3 Champion Trees, with species such as Bigleaf and Cucumber Magnolias, Devil’s Walking Stick, Sassafras, and Sourwood
- A rich mixture of native Piedmont plants like Beautyberry, Hearts-A-Bustin’, and Solomon's Plume
- A Heritage Garden with Dr. Morse’s original camellia collection (listed on Georgia's Camellia Trail)
- Morse Creek, a Chattahoochee River tributary
- Clearly marked walking trails, educational signage, and plant labels

Local students read stories about the natural world on the Garden lawn.
Woodlands helps visitors learn about nature through:
- Field trips for school-aged children to learn about Georgia's native ecosystems
- Plant labels throughout the Garden (including native and ornamentals) to help visitors learn to identify them
- Workshops led in every season for immersive learning about camellia grafting and propagation, native azalea cultivation, and bird identification, among other things

A young visitor is enchanted with tiny fairy houses created from all natural materials at Fairies in the Garden.
Woodlands hosts free events and programs year-round:
- The Music in the Garden series featured 36 local acoustic artists in 2018
- Weekly Yoga in Nature classes are led by certified yoga instructors in the Garden's outdoor Pavilion
- Fairies in the Garden welcomed over 750 participants in 2018
