Meet Chasity. A resilient single mother living in the state of Georgia, one of the places hardest hit by the economic challenges single parents face.
Chasity was a dedicated nursing student at Herzing University, balancing her studies with the responsibilities of raising her child. The demands of the nursing program forced her to work part-time, making it difficult to pay her rent. The situation worsened when she lost her car, cutting off her transportation to both school and work, which put her in even more dire financial stress. She fell behind on her rent and was on the brink of eviction.
That's when a school advisor sent her to H.O.P.E, Inc. Thanks to donors like you, Chasity's rent was caught up, and she was awarded $400 a month in rent assistance throughout her school year. But the support didn't stop there. Our partners at Heirborn Servants donated a car to Chasity, giving her the crucial transportation she needed to get back on her feet. She also received emergency assistance that included grocery gift cards and gas cards, during the post pandemic years.
Chasity is one of 303,000 single mothers in our state, where we also have nearly 81,000 single fathers struggling to make ends meet.
Imagine waking up every day with the heart-wrenching decision: pay rent or feed your children? This is the reality for 30% of single mother households in Georgia, where mothers like Chasity constantly face the uncertainty of where their next meal will come from.
Inflation has made this struggle even harder. Basic necessities like groceries and rent have skyrocketed, pushing already vulnerable families closer to the edge. For many single mothers, this means making impossible choices between shelter and sustenance, and sometimes facing the threat of eviction and homelessness.
Families headed by single mothers are among the poorest in our community, with more than a third living in poverty. These families are extremely vulnerable, with little to no safety net to catch them when things go wrong.
Stories like Chasity’s show the profound impact that our community can have. This is why we need your help. We are raising $8,000 to provide emergency assistance to single parents like Chasity.
Your contribution can help us provide quarterly grocery gift cards and gad cards, as well as fresh produce from our partnerships with local farmers to decrease the impact of soaring food and gas prices. We want to ensure that these families have the support they need to keep a roof over their heads and food on the table during these challenging times.
By donating, you are directly impacting the lives of these courageous parents and their children, offering them hope and stability in uncertain times.
Together, we can make a difference and show that our community stands strong in support of its most vulnerable members.Help us reach our goal and be a lifeline for single parents in Georgia.
Donate today and bring a ray of hope into their lives.
