Matching Building Challenge Campaign

Habitat for Humanity of Putnam, Inc. has begun construction of house number three and four, with one more in the planning stages. Our Habitat has been fortunate to be the recipient of a $400,000 gift from a local donor who has challenged us to match that amount. We have embraced this opportunity and, thanks to the generosity of many individual donors, were able to raise $62,000 in the calendar year 2022. We ask for your support in our on-going campaign.

Last year was a hallmark year for our affiliate. With the support of our contractor, Clark Harper of Harper Construction, we were able to set a record year with new home construction. A partnership with Chris Wilson of Wilson Bryant Air Conditioning led to donated HVAC systems for our new Habitat homes. These contributions significantly reduce the overall cost of a home, which means we can build more homes for more deserving families in Putnam County.

We were also blessed to be selected by Warrick Dunn Charities for their 'Home for the Holidays' program. This big surprise culminated in a fully furnished and decorated home for our new homeowner along with a $5,000 check towards her house mortgage. We are thrilled to be partnering with The Women's Group of the First United Methodist Church of Eatonton who graciously provided a lovely house-warming shower for another new Habitat family. With your help, we can continue this momentum into 2023!

Economic challenges still persist with the rising cost of construction. Murali Thirumal, Executive Director, says the success of that effort will determine how quickly we can build the next set of homes.
