Healing Families, Strengthening Communities, Ending Violence

Caminar Latino - Latinos United for Peace & Equity is Georgia’s first and only comprehensive domestic violence intervention program for Latino families. Our mission is to create opportunities for Latino families to transform their lives and communities by changing the social conditions that give rise to violence. We carry out that mission by creating safe spaces for family members to begin their journey towards non-violence and by centering the Latino experience to transform the social conditions that give rise to violence. Latinos United for Peace and Equity (LUPE), Caminar Latino’s national counterpart, engages in public policy, research, and systems change work at the intersection of gender-based violence and Latino identity.

Our team utilizes a three-prong approach to achieve our mission:

Family Initiatives: Increase a Latino family’s capacity to identify abusive behaviors, engage in dialogue with other people who have had similar experiences, and take actions to transform their lives.

Community Initiatives: Provide opportunities to empower community members to help others stop the cycle of violence.

National Initiatives: Leverage the expertise of our national team (LUPE) to offer capacity building, training, and technical assistance to other nonprofits, advocates in the field, government agencies, and businesses.

Since 2000, Caminar Latino - LUPE is proud to have provided over 343,600 individual services to more than 7,500 survivors of violence, 3,800 youth exposed to violence, and 1,350 individuals who have used violence.
