$35,000 Goal

Our GAgives on #GivingTuesday Goal

Please donate to the IRC in Atlanta this GAgives on #GivingTuesday—November 28, 2023—and help us reach our goal of raising $35,000 to ensure refugees, asylum seekers, and immigrants in Georgia have the support they need to integrate and thrive in our communities. No donation amount is too small!

Your support now is more important than ever. We continue to welcome 1,000 newly arriving refugees each year to safe new homes in Georgia in addition to providing essential services and programs to over 4,000 new American neighbors who already call our state home. This $35,000 goal will provide:

  • $10,000 for Career Development Scholarships to support refugees and immigrants in the pursuit of medical careers—as Dental Assistants, Certified Nursing Assistants, Pharmacy Technicians, and Phlebotomists!
  • $10,000 for Emergency Rental Assistance for newly arriving asylum seekers and refugees—especially those with high medical needs!
  • $2,000 for Childcare Outdoor Play Equipment—our Adult Education program provides childcare for children under five while their parents learn English. We have a new outdoor play area in need of toddler-sized slides and climbing toys for the spring!
  • $13,000 for Unrestricted Funding—to be used where it's most needed, for emergencies, staffing, resources, and supplies!

Other Ways to Help:

We are currently looking for friends of the IRC—both old and new—to join our team of fundraising volunteers and set up their own Peer-2-Peer fundraising pages here on MightyCause. YOU can help us to ensure that newly arriving refugee families from Afghanistan, Syria, Myanmar, Venezuela, Ukraine, and other crisis zones around the world have the support they need to integrate and thrive in our communities. Find everything you need to get started in our Fundraising Toolkit.

And please plan to join us for dinner at Raging Burrito in Decatur on #GivingTuesday, November 28, between 4:30pm and 8:30pm, as this generous (and delicious!) restaurant will be donating an amazing 15% of dinner sales to support the work of the IRC in Atlanta!
